Ilir Latifi AKA the Sledgehammer and Tor Troéng AKA the Hammer will represent Sweden this Saturday as they fight on the UFC in Dublin card. UFC Fight Night 46 is headlined by Conor McGregor versus Diego Brandao, and also includes Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson taking on Zak Cummings on the main card. The bout happens at the O2 and scan be seen on UFC Fight Pass.
Malmö’s Latifi will face Octagon newcomer Chris Dempsey (10 wins, 1 loss), who will step up on a few weeks notice, instead of the original opponent Tom Lawlor (9-5) who withdrew after an injury. The Allstars Training Center fighter last made short work of Cyrille Diabate in London earlier in the year, in a rare bout without any significant strikes to get his first Octagon win. Dempsey is a former heavyweight collegiate wrestler and 2-Time NCAA DII All-American at the University of Pittsburgh. The American is riding a 8 fight winning streak and fights out of Cold Steel MMA.
Umeå’s Troeng looks to rebound from his loss to Rafael Natal this past September as he takes on American Trevor Smith. The Renyi fighter, who also trains at Allstars Training Center in Stockholm, submitted Adam Cella in first round at Ericsson Globen arena in Stockholm in his UFC debut in April. Smith lost to Thales Leites in his last Octagon outing in April by TKO in just 45 seconds. He has an overall record of 11 wins and 5 losses, and fights out of Ring Demon Jiu-Jitsu.
