Timo-Juhani Hirvikangas has signed with the new Finnish promotion Nordic Fighting Championship. The upstart promotion is seeking to become a player among MMA promotions in Europe. May 28th is the set date of the debut in Helsinki and more fighters are set to be announced today. The signing was first reported by iltalehti.fi and additional signings by fightsport.fi.
The organization has boasted that they will build the foundation of the “Amazing Experience of MMA”. “Tipi” brings an impressive 10 win and 2 loss record to the promotion and for several years has been seen as one of the top Nordic bantamweights. The Finnfighters Gym fighter has been out of MMA action since 2014, but is planning on making 2016 his year.
The head of the organization Pezhman Ahmadi is new to the MMA game, but with ambition and foreign investors he has hopes to bring the best fighters in Northern Europe to the promotion and compete with the UFC’s MMA market.
