The UFC has announced that Sweden’s own Reza Madadi will have his second bout in the Octagon. He will face off against TUF 15 alum Cristiano Marcello.
“Mad Dog” was successful in his UFC debut on April 14 in Stockholm, Sweden. The local fighter battled a tough prospect in Yoislandy Izquierdo in round 1, then came back with an impressive submission to end the at UFC on Fuel TV 2 bout. Madadi has a 12 win and 2 loss record.
He will take on Christiano Marcello, who has a 12 win and 4 loss record.
The Brazilian submission specialist lost on the TUF 15 Finale against Sam Sicilia by KO in the 2nd round in his Octagon debut. The Brazilian fighter will have home field advantage, fighting in his home country.
There is history between the two fighters. Shortly after Reza Madadi beat Rich Clementi to secure the Superior Challenge title, Marcello was in attendance and stepped into the ring to challenge Madadi. It was a confusing scene, as many on hand didn’t know who had the microphone or why. Madadi, who was still enjoying his victory, said “you are not on my level” as he dismissed the challenge. Now the two will settle things in the cage.
The lightweight fighters will square off on October 13th. The card is expected to be headlined by champion Jose Aldo, who will face challenger Erik Koch.
Quinton Jackson and Glover Teixeira are also expected to clash on the card in Rio de Janeiro, in what should be Jackson’s last fight in the UFC. Expect fireworks on the card!
