Expressen.se is reporting the the Sweden known as “Jycken”, Magnus Cedenblad will return to the Octagon after well over a year layoff to face slugger Jared Hamman.
The UFC will return to Milwaukee’s Bradley Center on August 31 for UFC 164, where the bout is expected to take place. Cedenblad was set to face Rafael Natal back in January, but cataracts in his eyes prevented the Swede from fighting during the medical checks.
Cedenblad is excited that he is facing a former opponent of teammate Alexander Gustafsson of Allstars Gym. The Mauler knocked out Hamann in his UFC debut back in 2009. Since then, the American has dropped from light heavyweight to middleweight.
“Alex knocked him out in 42 seconds, so I’ll try to beat that.” says Cedenblad to SportExpressen.se. “That’s what I hope for. He’s pretty durable and keeps going on all the time. It will be back and forth. A war simply.”
Cedenblad lost his only bout in the UFC last April against Francis Carmont. After threatening with a RNC in the first round, the Swede was submitted in the second round. The 31 year old has a record of 10 wins and 4 losses.
Hamman is on a two fight losing streak. His last bout was in August of 2012, when he lost by TKO against Michael Kuiper at UFC 150.
