MMAFighting.com announced the matchup between Stockholm’s Papy Abedi and American James Head. The bout will take place in Stockholm, Sweden on April 14. The event will held at the Ericsson Globe Arena on the fight card called UFC on Fuel TV 2.
Abedi is the first Swede to be officially added to the card, although the platform seems to be set for additional Swedes, including a headliner in Alexander Gustafsson in another step to a title shot. “Makambo” has been training in Las Vegas as preparation for his next bout.
Abedi and Head are both 0-1 in the UFC after losing their Octagon debut’s. The 33-year-old “Makambo” from the Congo lost to Thiago Alves by first-round rear-naked choke at UFC 138 in November in Birmingham, and was his first professional loss in 9 MMA bouts.
Head’s is 7-2 overall after losing to Nick Ring at UFC 131 at middleweight. Head, who trains out of Oklahoma, has a notable win over UFC veteran Gerald Harris by decision at XFL 2 “Harris vs. Head” last February. He was slated to be on the UFC 138 card, but pulled out due to injury.
