The debut of The Ultimate Fighter 18: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate took place on Wednesday night, where bantamweights fought to get into the TUF house. Two Swedes were set to battle to get their way on the reality show, with Sirwan Kakai and Emil Harsner in Vegas.
While the fights were not shown in full, Emil Hartsner faced Michael Wootten, where the bout went to a lackluster decision. It wasn’t the Swedes day, as Hartsner was on the loosing end of the battle. Dana White comments during the highlights that he had no interest in seeing either fighter again after the bout. See full fight video here.
As seen in yesterday’s sneak peek of the bout, Sirwan Kakai was facing Chris Beal. We see that Beal is getting the better of the standup early, but it isn’t without highlights from Kaki that is able to get the fight to the ground and go on offense with strikes and submission attempts. In the end, its the edge on the feet that give Beal the decision. See full fight video here.
Both Hartsner and Kakai’s quest for an Octagon contract have ended for now, and both fighters will seek bouts outside the show with Kakai already booked for a bout in Japan later next month.
