With the UFC in Sweden coming to Sweden in April, MMA Viking takes a look at 10 Nordic fighters that would be ready to step into the Octagon. Today we identify Nicolas Dalby (9-0), a standout welterweight from Denmark.
Undefeated welterweight Nicolas Dalby is a promising up-n-comer from Denmark. Like many Nordic fighters, Dalby had an extensive amateur MMA career before jumping to professional fights. Since turning pro in 2010 the RumbleSports gym’s prospect has been on a roll and racked up 9 wins in little over two years.
Dalby has notable wins over Finland’s Glenn Sparv, Spain’s Acoidan Duque and Croatian veteran Ivan Truscek who the Dane beat in his latest fight at the Royal Arena 2 in August of 2012. As a fighter Dalby is much like his training partner Bellator fighter Mikkel Parlo: technical and crisp striking, tight takedown defense and a solid ground game. Dalby has great movement on the feet, defends well and rarely makes mistakes.
The Dane still works full time as a tech support and as a freelance photographer but still manages find to train enough to improve all the time. It would be nice to see how he would perform as a full time professional fighter.
Dalby will be facing another top ranked Nordic fighter in Assan N’jie on March 9 at Royal Arena 3.
