Nicolas Dalby could not get going Saturday night. The Dane found himself on his back after getting hit with a lead right hand punch early, and the grappling ace Peter Sobotta did not give the Sharpshooter any chance of turning it around. 30-26, 30-26, 30-26 were the final scorecards in favor of the German fighter.
Although the Danish fans traveled to support their fighter, the chants of SOBOTTA-SOBOTTA-SOBOTTA were the loudest when their local fighter tightened a rear naked choke with 10 seconds in the first, but Dalby survived.
With a swollen eye, Dalby looked to land shots, but after a misstep forward, Sobotta was got a body lock and again put Dalby on his back, where he stayed the rest of the second round in mount and side mount.
Dalby did get things moving in his direction in the third as he landed some strikes and a good elbow. The Dane followed it up with some kicks, but again Sobotta responded with a take-down. A bloodied Dalby looks to reverse and keeps fighting. He was able to get up before the final bell, but just not enough time in this one.
