Helsinki based Marcio “Gracinha” Cesar (16-6-1) has agreed to step in for the injured Conor McGregor and face American Jim “the Beast” Alers (8-1) at the Cage Warriors Fight Night 7. The bout has a co-main event status in the show that will go down on the 1st of September in Amman, Jordan.

Florida based Alers got his title shot against Conor McGregor by scoring a second round TKO win over Finland’s Matteus Lähdesmäki at the Cage Warriors Fight Night 6 in May of 2012. Representative of Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Orlando is currently riding a four fight win streak.
Marcio Cesar has settled in his new home country Finland and is looking to launch his MMA career into new heights by dropping down to featherweight division. He has previously fought at lightweight and even welterweight. Former Chute Boxe fighter is 6-2 in his last eight fights with both losses coming to much bigger and highly regarded fighters in UFC welterweight Che Mills and Russian lightweight star Alexander Sarnavskiy. Cesar won his last bout (missing from Sherdog) in June when he quickly submitted Aleksejs Povulans by kimura at Ring Side Fight Night 4 in Espoo, Finland. Cesar trains and also coaches at the Ring Side Gym in Espoo. The BJJ black belt has been working hard on his striking under top class boxing coach Pekka Mäki as well as Mäki’s top pupil the former European Champion Amin Asikainen.
