Swede Simon Sköld (8-6) was on a six fight winning streak heading into Superior Challenge 17 in the co-main event. The Swede however was submitted by Finnish wrestler Jerry Kvarnström (14-11) in the third round in a fight full of action from both fighters. Now, the two are set for another Finnkamp at Superior Challenge 18 on December 1 in Stockholm.
The rematch will be at a catchweight of 67 kilograms and is set for the main event of the evening.
“This is a really exciting rematch and a classic match between striker vs grappler. Both athletes showed a true warrior heart and true sportsmanship, both during and after the match when they met last spring. We in Superior Challenge appreciate it a lot, and that’s exactly what we want to promote.
Jerry is an incredibly tough fighter who does not give up. He will want to shorten Simon’s distance and draw him close to take the match to standing-clinch or the ground. He will like to be physically and grumpy and weary Swedish. Simon has shown in most matches that even he is a hard thing. He is a moving and prickly striker who has the ability to finish with a hit. He will probably want to move constantly and keep his distance and knock down the Finns by kidding him with kicks and kicks.
I want to see a hungry Simon in front of this rematch, which I think will be the match of the evening. ”
