Jani Salmi (9-2) will face Cage Warriors world champion Chris Fishgold (16-1-1) in the co-main event at the Echo Arena on April 1. The Cage Warriors 82 lightweight bout will be a huge opportunity for the Finn who will look to get the strap in the champion’s home town town of Liverpool.
Salmi has a 8 fights winning streak and is out of GB Gym Finland. The title hopeful has been working with Anton Kuivanen to improve his skills.
The Finn has not lost since February of 2013. Since that time he has stopped 6 opponents in his 8 wins. He last won at FNF 13, where he submitted Niko Myllynen, in his last outing in November.
“Stepping into the Cage Warriors cage is always special, but the chance to defend my world title at home means the world,” says Fishgold that will be looking for his third title defense.
