Ilir Latifi (11-4-1) has wasted no time in booking his next fight. The ‘Sledgehammer’ will face American Gian Villante (14-6) the UFC announced today.
While Latifi was looking to bring the Octagon back to Malmö for his next fight, he will instead head to Las Vegas for UFC 196 in one of the year’s biggest card with headliner Rafael dos Anjos taking on Conor McGregor for lightweight title.
Latifi is coming off a 30 second finish against American Sean O’Connell (17-6) at Fight Night Boston.
Villante won his more recent fight via knockout in the first round against now retired Anthony Perosh at UFC 193 in November. He has been in the UFC since 2013, and has also beaten O’Connell. The American is a frequent training partner of Chris Weidman.
