Gunnar Nelson (17-4-1) will face Thiago Alves (23-14) at UFC in Denmark that will go down at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen on September 28. It is the first fight officially announced for the first time the Octagon will touch base on Denmark.
The fight will welterweight bout will feature the Iceland fighter out of Mjolnir that is coming off a close loss to Leon Edwards (17-3) in the co-main event of the UFC London card in March. Nelson has won his last 3 of 5 bouts in the Octagon.
The Brazilian Alves has lost his last 3 of 4 bouts, with his last a unanimous decision loss to Laureano Staropoli at UFC 237 in May. The “Pitbull” is 35 years old and challenged Georges St. Pierre for the welterweight title back at UFC 100. The American Top Team fighter lost to Dane Martin Kampmann back in 2012.
