Cage 28 now has a headliner as Finns will clash with title holder Glenn Sparv (9-3) taking on on challenger Johan Vänttinen (12-4-1). Sparv will attempt to defend his welterweight strap for the first time, after winning it at Cage 25 in a majority decision over Kai Puolakka back in February.
The bout takes place at Helsinki Hall of Culture on Friday, November 28. Content partner FightSport.fi announced the bout on behalf of the organization.
Sparv has won 4 of his last 5 bouts, only dropping a first round stoppage back in December 2013 over Alberto Mina. The Team Hobbit MMA fighter that trains out of AKA Thailand will return back to Finland to defend the strap.
Vänttinen who now trains out of Hardknox Helsinki has been on a roll, winning his last three bouts. 2014 has already seen the 25 year old beat Olli Jaako Uitto at Cage 26, Juho Valamaa at Helsinnki Fight Night, and most recently Vaidas Valancius at Carelia Fight Night 10 in September.
