Today the first court session in Reza Madadis case where he, together with two other men out of which one is still wanted are being tried for theft. Expressen reports that the attorney has presented surveillance footage from an auto repair shop in which the vehicle (a black Audi) used for the theft together with tools (clothes, hoods, cell phones, battering ram and paper fillings for the bags) used at the crime scene were found after the burglary. In the footage a man claimed to be Reza Madadi was seen together with two accomplices before the crime took place and is also the spot at which Reza was later apprehended at by the police running towards a car at the scene after a violent car chase originating from the scene where a police car literally and figuratively ran in to the Audi a brief moment after the theft.
Reza’s lawyer is stating that it is in fact not Reza that is being seen in the surveillance video before the crime and that he’d been in a different city at the opening of a new gym.
He can’t/won’t give out the name of this gym and won’t give out the name of any person that can verify his story as he states that he “only speaks about himself in investigations”.
Glass fragments have also been found on Rezas jacket, shirt, socks and shoes. It is not verified where this glass originates from but Reza’s defence attorneys claims that it might have gotten on to the clothes as Reza was in Husby during the riots that were going on in the area at the time talking to kids and teenagers in the troubled area. A forensic analysis of the glass fragments states that there are two types of glass that has been found on the clothes which would coincide with Rezas statement. The fact that there are two different types of glass does not eliminate or confirm that the fragments can’t or could be from the store. The attorney is also showing phone records where Reza has been having contact over the phone with both other suspects in the days and even hours leading up to the theft.
Rezas defence attorneys are claiming that the evidence put forth is not enough to show that Reza has anything to do with the theft and are confident that Reza will be set free after tomorrows final hearings.
