Erik Carlsson (6-3) has got himself a new opponent for this weekend’s Brave CF 13 card in Belfast. The Swede was originally scheduled to face Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady (9-1) in a lightweight clash. Unfortunately, Al-Selwady was forced to pull out of the highly anticipated match-up due to injury after breaking his hand.
There were talks of Carlsson being pulled from the card as a result of the injury but a replacement was found. The highly experienced Erick da Silva (21-5) will step in on short notice to keep this fight on the card.
Carlsson has spent his camp in Tiger Muay Thai over in Phuket, Thailand in the build-up to this fight. This will be his 4th bout under the Brave CF banner. Last time out he came out the wrong side of a razor-thin split decision against Ahmed Amir (8-2) at Brave CF 9. Carlsson is an exciting well-rounded fighter with all of his victories to date coming by way of a finish.
His opponent Erick da Silva previously featured on TUF Brazil series four and has had two previous bouts under the Brave CF banner. His last fight saw him lose to Al-Selwady via TKO after picking up an injury during the fight. The loss put an end to his 9 fight win streak. He is also a BJJ black belt with submission victories as a pro to date.
