“when Jones is fighting, when Gustafsson is fighting, when those guys are fighting, I want to be fighting one of those guys.” says two-time Olympian Daniel Cormier after his dominant performance over “Big Country” Roy Nelson on Saturday night at UFC 166. The heavyweight has his eyes on the 205 lbs title, and in his way may be Swede Alexander Gustafsson.
Dana White indicated that the bout would be a possibility. Gustafsson is scheduled to fight in March or April in Sweden or London, and when the fight happens it might be against the AKA fighter.
Gustafsson didn’t get his immediate rematch that many fans thought was deserved, so time will tell who will be up next. With teammate Phil Davis an undesirable option, the Cormier (13 wins and 0 losses) matchup could be attractive to the UFC.
