Norwegian Sigmund Hollerud is ready to turn pro after landing a flying armbar over the weekend at BCMMA 20 in Essex England. “So after 6 amateur fights I’m thinking I’m turning 30 today so if I’m going to test the pro league now is the time!” says the Frontline Academy fighter to MMA Viking.
So, the lightweight will enter the pros next year with a three fight winning streak to his amateur career after his Submission of the Night (SOTN) award with his first round stoppage over local Adam Spalding on Saturday night. “Even though my fight yesterday was really short, I really felt like all my preparations was on point.”
“I started training taekwondo when I was 15 years old. Earned my black belt. Moved to Trondheim in 2008 to study and there I got into Brazilian jujitsu at Trondheim-bjj. Moved back to Oslo in 2013 and joined Frontline where I got my purple belt from Eduardo Teta Rios. Had a chat with Andreas Laagard (Frontlines fight fixer) in 2015 and he booked me for a fight so then I started training MMA.”
Hollerud started off his MMA career with a 28 second KO at Budo Fighting Championship 10. “I want my mma style to be a combination of long distance standupp game with solid boxing and fancy kicks, backed up with a sneaky ground game. ”
“I want to thank all the people at Frontline Academy. A special thanks to my coaches Eduardo Teta Rios, Jack Hermansson, Mohsen Bahari and Aristo Manzouri. Also a big thanks to Joachim Tollefsen for being the best corner man!” says the fighter that is ready for his 30’s and a pro career.
