Undefeated Norwegian Kenneth Bergh (3-0) will face local Brett McDermott (6-3) on July 9th on Clash of the Titans (COTT) 16 in Workington, Cumbria, England for the vacant COTT European light heavyweight title. “I think it could headline almost any show in Europe!” says Dave Straughton, COTT Promoter about the high-level matchup going down on July 9th.
“He has fought he likes of King Mo in Rizen FF, and knocked out Oli Thompson as well.. so he’s a big scalp to have on my record if I’m able to put on a performance on his home turn” says the Frontline Academy fighter to MMAViking.com.
The Norwegian that lost this year in his TUF 23 fight to get into the house was hoping to have another fight before this, but that was cancelled two weeks ago as the whole Golden Ticket Fight Promotion card was shut down just a day before the event. “I’m super excited I got this chance to fight so close to the cancellation last weekend. I can’t wait to get back to the cage for a big challenge.”
“I’m super excited about this matchup, its the biggest fight ever to happen in Cumbria and with Brett’s fight on Rizin last year and Kenneth just appearing on TUF its a real marquee fight.” says Straughton.
The Spartan out of Flex MMA is coming off of a first round KO of Jamie Sloane at BAMMA 25, and will be a stiff test for Bergh. The Norwegian’s last official fight –TUF fight’s do not count on your official record– was in July of 2015, where he won by submission in just 52 seconds over Jan Lysak.
