“I get to spar with some of the best fighters in the world and get advice from superb coaches.”
Finnish lightweight star Anton ”Wolverine” Kuivanen is flying tomorrow to USA for a training camp at the famed American Top Team gym in Coconut Creek, Florida. Main reason for Kuivanen’s five week stay this time is to help Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal get ready for his StrikeForce title fight against Gilbert Melendez on December 17th.
“I’m really excited about this opportunity. I love the training at the ATT. I get to spar with some of the best fighters in the world and get advice from superb coaches. I’ve trained with Jorge before and it went really well. I believe that was one of the reasons why the folks at the ATT asked me to join Masvidal’s camp. “ excited Kuivanen, a member of ATT Pro Team, said.
Kuivanen fought four weeks ago in Finland at the Cage 16 event where he was able to beat Blackhouse MMA’s highly respected Thiago “Minu” Meller by decision after very exciting three rounds of action.
“Even though the invitation to Coconut Creek came on short notice, I think the timing was perfect. I just had a fight, don’t have any injuries and my next fight hasn’t been set yet. Now it’s a great time to work on improving my game and prepare for bigger challenges.” said Kuivanen.
MMAViking will follow Anton’s training at the ATT and report on how things are going in the sunny Florida. If you haven’t read the recent interview, “It’s only a matter of time until I fight under the UFC banner“, read it now.
