Swede Andreas Ståhl (9 wins, 0 losses, #5 Nordic Lightweight) is set to make his long awaited UFC debut this Saturday. Real Steel will face another undefeated UFC newcomer in Gilbert Burns (7 wins, 0 losses) on the UFC on the FOX 12 card at SAP Center in San Jose, California. “Training camp has gone smoothly and I am feeling in top form” says Stahl to mmaViking.com about his preparations, as he focuses on his weight cut in the USA.
The undefeated Renyi Fighter is from Umeå in northern Sweden and is from the same camp as UFC veteran Tor Troeng. The Hammer is providing guidance for the debuting fighter. “What differs is the last week before the fight with more media so then it will be nice to have with someone who has done it before!” says the welterweight who is joined by Troeng and Johan Heidenberg for the trip.
Burns is from Brazil and now represents both the Blackzilians and the Belfort Team. “The only thing I know about Gilbert is that he is a very accomplished grappler.” comments Stahl about his undefeated opponent nicknamed Durinho, who is a world champion in BJJ and was the Team Vitor grappling coach on TUF Brazil.
“It will be a great fight and I’m looking forward to it!” says the Swede, who has been sidelined for over a year due to injuries.
The card is headlined by Matt Brown and Robbie Lawler who look to get in line to become the next title contender. Stahl will be the second fight of the evening, and you can watch live on UFC Fight Pass.
