Aleksi Toivonen (6-0, 1 NC) smashed Salambek Damaev (9-4) at Cage 43 in Helsinki. The “Giant” got on top early, and took mount and never stopped his onslaught forcing a stoppage from the referee.
The Finn was dominant over the tough Chechnyan born Damaev, but it was no match for the Lahden Gentai fighter that walks away with the first round victory.
“I’m probably the underdog in this one.” said Aleksi about his opponent that has 12 career bouts, and he has won five straight bouts under the Akhmat Fight Show. Before tonight, the 33 year old last loss was in 2014 and has finishes in 3 of his last 5 wins.
The motivated 125 lbs flyweight won the co-headliner of the event. The 26 year old now has 6 wins, all coming by stoppage turning pro in 2015. The fighter now calls for a ONE or UFC contracts as he wants to get exposure to the big leagues with a win.
