Kenneth Bergh (8-0-0, 1 NC) is out of his UFC Fight Island bout tomorrow versus Jorge Gonzalez (16-4). MMA Viking has learned that the Norwegian light heavyweight had troubles making the weight for the Abut Dhabi bout and is now officially off of the card.
Bergh took the fight on just a few weeks notice, and while attempting to hit the 206 lbs limit could not do so in what was deemed in a healthy manner by the UFC. It has been a crazy time for the Fontline Academy fighter, who had his gym closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It was already a late notice fight and the original opponent did not make it through the approval process of the UFC, so officially got the Gonzalez matchup just days ago. The TUF 23 fighter was set to be the first fight of the night.
Bergh has been dominant going undefeated in 9 fights, with 8 wins and 1 No Contest. Most recently, the light heavyweight TKO’d David Marcina (15-20) at Superior Challenge 20 in December in the co-main event.
Tomorrow’s event is headlined by Calvin Kattar (146) vs Dan Ige (145) who both made weight. Sweden based Khamzat Chimaev (186) made weight and will be the lone Nordic fighter on the card.
