Mads Burnell (8-2) will make his return to the Octagon, and this time at featherweight against Michael Santiago (21-10). The bout will go down at UFC St. Louis on January 14. MMA Fighting initially reported the matchup, that has been confirmed by MMA Viking.
Burnell lost to an overweight Michel Prazeres (23-2) at UFC Fight Night 115 in September. The “Sub Machine” stepped in on short notice for the lightweight bout with the Brazilian veteran and ended up tapping in the third round with a north-south choke.
Santiago also fought on the same Rotterdam card, where he lost by a second-round submission to Zabit Magomedsharipov. The American earned a UFC spot in the UFC after a win on Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series show.
The Arte Suave fighter won his first 7 our of 8 bouts before making his UFC debut. The BJJ Black Belt is only 23 years old.
