David Bielkheden, the second Swede to enter the Octagon, today announced by Twitter that his two-year suspension handed down by the Doping Tribunal (Dopingnämnden) has been reduced. Below is the exchange with Cage Warriors Fighting Championship matchmaker Ian Dean.
The HILTI fighter known as “The Brazilian Swede” tested positive for methylhexaneamine, a stimulant often used as a nasal decongestant, after his October defeat at Superior Challenge 6. The substance was added to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) prohibited list in 2009.
The former UFC and Pride fighter insisted that this was a case of “accidental doping”. The veteran was all set to take on Yuya Shirai at the Superior Challenge 7 event, but the tribunal handed down the two-year ban to Bielkheden on the day of weigh-ins leading to the bout cancellation. Bielkheden today exclaimed on Twitter “I’m back baby!!!!!! Got my appeal today and I’m back in the end of next month 🙂 Thank God!!”
