Featherweight talent Makwan “Mr Finland” Amirkhani (6-1) headlines StandUpWar promotion’s third show tagged “Rising Stars” this Saturday in Tampere, Finland. In the main event the Finnish grappling machine takes on Belarus’s Semen Tyrlya (5-2). As the promotion’s name suggests the show has also striking only bouts in the cage. The kickboxing bouts will be held under special “SUW rules” that are close to K-1 rules.
Amirkhani, who hails from a extensive wrestling background, has made short work of his two opponents in 2012 finishing them both in couple of minutes with submissions. Overall the Finn has finished five fights by submission and gone to distance just once.
Former lightweight Tyrlya isn’t looking for easy fights. In his last bout the Belarusian took on Top 10 euro lightweight in Germany’s Daniel Weichel who submitted him with a rear naked choke in the second round.
The card is filled with pro debutants and young fighters who are just starting their fight career. Finnish Amateur MMA Champion 2012 Teemu Packalen makes his pro debut against Polish Grzegorz Szulanowski who won his first pro fight in May.
MMA Viking will cover the event on Saturday so check back for live results, pics and event report.
