Hi MMA fans,

Upon reading numerous reports on August 30, 2008, that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was seeking to expand its events into additional countries, I (an American that recently moved to Stockholm) created mmaViking.com on August 31, 2008 to provide the MMA community, including Lorenzo Fertitta, Frank Fertitta, Dana White, Marshall Zaleznik, and other Zuffa LLC decision makers information in ENGLISH about the Sweden market, its talented fighters, and the growing MMA scene. From what I've learned so far in my stay is that Sweden would make for a great destination for the UFC.

The purpose of this site is to present a gateway to all information necessary for the UFC / Zuffa LLC to evaluate the Stockholm, Sweden market for a UFC event. I have covered such topics as local fighter overviews, events, legal status, statistics, locations to train, potential venues, and background information on Stockholm and Sweden.

You will also find that I listed information and links from many other Swedish organizations that have been supporting the local MMA Scandinavian scene much longer than I have... and that know a lot more about the history of MMA in Sweden, it's culture, and how cold it really gets in the winter. What I can tell you is that there are BJJ and MMA schools everywhere, and Extreme Couture, Affliction, and TapOut shirts on kids throughout the subways and streets, and you can watch UFC Unleashed, TUF shows, and live UFC events on TV Sport 4.

Stockholm is made to host big events. With it's central location, and ease of access, it's ideal. Stockholm has hosted the Olympics, and there is no reason that the city would not be ready for a UFC event in 2009 or 2010.
